HowMuchToRunhelps people understand exactly how much it costs to run the appliances in their home. Electricity bills are hard to break down by device, so we built free, instant calculators that turn an appliance's wattage and usage into a clear cost per day, month and year — along with its yearly CO₂ footprint.

How our numbers are calculated

Every estimate uses the same simple, transparent formula: power in kilowatts, multiplied by hours of use, multiplied by your electricity rate. We pre-fill typical wattage figures for each appliance, but the most accurate result comes from entering your own rate from your latest bill. All figures are estimates intended for guidance, not exact billing.

How we keep the site free

HowMuchToRun is supported by affiliate links and advertising. When we link to an energy-efficient appliance and you buy through that link, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
